My name is Monica, I'm 43 years old and live in God's Country, Michigan!!! Actually, I'm in Howell, but to me it's like Heaven! My wonderful husband, Rich, and I were blessed to move to a beautiful home in the country on 26 acres where we are actively pursuing our dreams of owning a horse farm on property where we have tons of wildlife... and I just can't seem to keep my camera in it's bag for more than a few hours at a time! I always enjoyed taking pictures while I was growing up, but truly fell in love with photography about 12 years ago. My favorite subjects are Outdoor, Wildlife, Equine, Animal and Floral Macro photography. I started out on this wonderful journey by taking macros of flowers in our yard in Warren, MI. I was taking so many photos with my 35mm that my husband started to "comment" about how much film was costing us, so I purchased my first digital camera, a Sony DSC F717 that became my workhorse. I took it everywhere with me and became the 'house photographer' for every work or personal event I attended! I purchased my second camera (and by far my favorite!), a Canon 40D, before we went on our Arctic excursions. I was blessed to take 2 trips of a lifetime within 3 months; In October 2007, my husband and I flew up to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, to photograph and film Polar Bears in the wild - an AMAZING experience - and then on to Homer, Alaska, in January 2008. A client flew my husband and I there to do onsite photography, video and website design for their fine-dining restaurant and Halibut charter fishing operation. While there I had an opportunity to meet Jean Keene, the renowned "Eagle Lady" (who recently passed) and get literally thousands of pictures of the majestic American Bald Eagles. We're hoping to take more trips in the near future and Yellowstone is definitely number one on the list! We're also hoping to return to Churchill to visit some wonderful friends we made while we were there last time, as well as taking a whale-viewing charter. We're also looking forward to heading back to Alaska in the Summertime to view Grizzlies, Puffins, Whales, and all of the beautiful Arctic wildlife. Thank you again for stopping in, I hope you enjoyed your visit and that you come back again soon! |
